The International High School is an accredited IB world school offering the IB Diploma Programme, an academically challenging and balanced international programme of education with final examinations that prepares students aged 16 to 19 for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The IB programme has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.
If you have high ambitions, want to study subjects in-depth and wish to study a truly international programme, then the IB Diploma Programme is perfect for you. After an initial year, Pre IB, where you study courses from both the SA and NA programmes, you will choose six IB subjects that you study for the duration of two years. You will sit international exams in all subjects in April and May of your third year. All students sitting the final exams will need to pay the IB exam fee. These exam results account for most of your grades. For more information regarding the IB programme, please visit ibo.org/programmes.
The IB Diploma Programme is what YOU make it! Choose languages, sciences, humanities, art, mathematics and mix them all up to meet your interests, talents and future needs. Alongside your six subjects, you will also complete an Extended Essay, a course in Theory of Knowledge, and the extracurricular component of Creativity, Activity and Service. These three core elements are what defines an IB student and contributes to our students becoming life-long learners.
Admission to the Pre-IB class is based on your year 9 grades combined with the result of an Entrance exam that tests your knowledge of English and Mathematics.

The NA Life Science Programme at The International High School is a national programme which follows the Swedish curriculum and focuses on the natural sciences. All subjects except Swedish are taught in English, but a Swedish grade from year 9 is required to be eligible to study the programme. The NA Life Science Programme corresponds to the Natural Sciences Programme.
Committing to be a natural science student will be academically challenging, but also very rewarding. Depending on your language skills, studying in English will give you an extra edge at university or any other international setting. Or perhaps being taught in English will be like coming home, and you will join classmates who share your view that the world is your future arena.
As in other schools, the natural science programme focuses on traditional science subjects including laboratory work, but unlike other schools your teachers have experience from international school systems. This means they know what it takes to excel at university level in many different countries around the globe, ensuring your education is truly international. We will prepare you thoroughly for continuing higher studies at universities in Sweden and abroad. Upon completion of the programme, students can choose from a wide range of possible future careers, from engineering to medicine, from business to law, and everything in between.
In combination with elective subjects (individuella val), you can create choices to deepen or widen your studies with subjects like Psychology, Biotechnology, Programming level 1, Mathematics in-depth level 1, Entrepreneurship, Art, Speech, Ensemble Music, and Modern Languages.

The SA Global Studies Programme at The International High School is a national programme which follows the Swedish curriculum. This programme focuses on the social sciences and humanities, using current events as a backdrop. International Economy and International Relations, along with English level 3, are the in-depth courses chosen by our school to complement the other courses in the program. All subjects except Swedish are taught in English, but a Swedish grade from year 9 is required to be eligible to study the programme. The SA Global Studies Programme corresponds to the Social Science Programme.
Our SA Global Studies Programme will provide you with the opportunity to continue your studies abroad or in Sweden. In order for our students to apply what they learn, you will participate in different role plays, such as the UN Role Play. This is combined with a variety of field trip opportunities, for example to the Swedish Parliament. Some of our students are chosen to attend our exchange with Budapest, our trip to Poland, the partition of The European Youth Parliament, and the International Student Leadership Institute (ISLI) in Germany. Currently, we are the only school in Sweden to send delegates to this international conference. This makes our Social Science Programme truly international.
In combination with elective subjects (individuella val) you have the option to deepen or broaden your studies with subjects like Speech, Entrepreneurship, Sociology, Mathematics 3b, Science 2, Programming 1, Art, Ensemble music, and Modern Languages.

The International High School has many staff members with Swedish as a second language and staff with English as their first language. Almost all teachers can speak basic or higher levels of Swedish too. All Student Health team members (Elevhälsan) are Swedish and English speakers.
Good knowledge of English is necessary, at least grade C or equivalent. For example the English 5 course is during the autumn in year 1 to a great extent a support for increasing your vocabulary and to support the learning in other subjects. You must like to use your English and not be too shy about it! The International High School is not suitable or recommendable for students who first and foremost aim to learn basic English.
It depends on your level of English, your willingness to learn new words and the time you are ready to put in. Students who are shy at the beginning soon adapt and become more relaxed. Not only do the language skills improve but the overall confidence of the students grows. In the beginning you can easily find it hard but you will overcome that feeling. The English language should never hinder a good grade. But be prepared to dedicate more time towards your studies, especially in the first year.
